What is one of the most important achievement of human civilization, that accompanies our lives all the time, and pretty much defines culture? Music, of course. Music not only stimulates our mood, it can actually help us on daily basis. Think about it - How many times you have to do some boring work that you despise, yet when the music you personally like plays in the background, you somehow feel 100 times better and more motivated to work?
Yes, music is a perfect way to give us some rhythm - and also a perfect source of inspiration. I am pretty sure many of the deviations here, on Deviantart, were somehow influenced by sounds their creators have heard. Even if you are adapting some kind of a story, the music supports you in finding a proper balance in both storytelling and the way you finish your 'masterpiece'.
So yeah, I always listen to the music whenever I do something - whether it's doing another boring homework, because a stupid teacher didn't realize his students are too old for such a childish thing, being somewhat artistic, playing a game that doesn't have a music of it's own, or even doing such thing as digging out dead tree's snag. It always makes it more funny to do, and more satisfying to finally finish the job.
I also listen to the music when working on the Comic Book adaptation of my... ekhm... Magnus Opus, that you can actually follow right now. And since now I am kinda tired of drawing a certain part, as I am getting closer to finishing part 5 (once this one is finished, just one more and it will be finished and complete), I decided 'Well, why not? Why not show my musical taste and present the music, that I use, in order to construct my comic book?'. So in this countdown I am presenting You top 10 music composition that I listen to, when working on 'Count Wallenrod' - read, my Original Characters. Keep in mind, I am not listing these songs based on how much I like them or how good they are - I list them based on how much they keep me focus and ensure the Comic Book keeps it's tone. Though to be fair, if You read my previous journal entry, you may already get a hint, what kind of music is this. Either way, enjoy both the reading and the concert.

Brooding is one of those ways to ruin your OC by making it annoying and pretentious. Especially if it does it all the time, and never seems to let it go. Yes, my Annoying Creation does brood over past, but likely I ensured he has more important things to do and he needs to stay focused. But when he start talking about his past, his beliefs, his observations, this is the best theme to follow him. In fact, in a game it was used in 'Back in the previous game' script, so it's clearly a Brooding theme. And it shows.

I really wanted to use the original song, but I couldn't find one without the upbeat second part. But I also found this one better than the original. If you look at the comic book, you will notice at one point it bears a resemblance to Verne's '20 000 Leagues Under the Sea'. Therefore, it obligatorial for it to have a proper theme. And this one suits it well - especially if you imagine that is also pays a tribute to the crew of the original ship, who left their Fatherland in a number of 2221 - only 115 returned Home, in the end. Saying that the replica is like 'a tomb' in the comic really seemed in place.

I was kinda hesitant as to where put this one, but since it will not make an appearance until part 6, I decided to put it on number 8. And why not? This is probably the most beautiful, the most emotional, the most tear-jerking music ever composed. Basil Poledouris was a master. Now since it's originally called 'Wifeing', and if you know the movie, then I think you can pretty much guess exactly what may happen in part 6.

Now we are getting serious. Remember when I mentioned that the Comic Book follows 'Darker and Edgier' tropes as it should? Well, this is one of the first themes to state it out loud. In fact, the Cover Art of the Part 5, 'Holocaust' , is a homage to the simple, yet very memorable main menu from the source material. And boy, not only is it kinda creepy, but it also tells you 'the jokes are over' in a very unsettling manner,

Number 6: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnD95T…
The previous one was pretty creepy, wasn't it? So how about this one? When would this one play? Well, during those many moments when the Outcasts are together, talking with each other about ... well... anything. This peaceful melody might be at times kinda out of place, like in a scene when Janek says 'I will not have my ship shot out from under my ass just because one of you got too ambitious!' , but in my opinion it very well shows how much The Outcasts are 3-dimensional human beings, who do what they do just because they don't have much of the choice, who are just like everybody else, and who are... to some degree... a family. Though that might be over-stretching.

Number 5: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAAaLN…
Now this is the theme that shows how much the generically cute, cliched environment has changed due to Count Wallenrod's actions. The original source itself had a dark theme to it (though personally it did disappoint me). So why shoudn't it be mentioned in an alternation, where a tragic villain follows a philosophy of his own, while trying to get what he wants, and his Friends help him because... they have no other choice. And keep in mind, we are talking about wiping out the entire nations, committing genocide and justifying it by the fact that 'our enemies always tried to wipe us out, so why should we bother?', and destroying any kind of memory about them. You hear this theme, and you can pretty much picture that the cartoony Universe is now nothing more but a ruin, don't you?

Number 4: www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0lg0b…
And speaking about the tragic villain - Count Wallenrod - we are talking about a guy who couldn't fit in his original environment, and now got a chance to exact his revenge on a brain-degenerating waste of time, that affected both his niece and millions of innocent children, while following his own attitude of 'Anti-Magic' and 'Extreme Darwinism'. Well, if you read a comic book, then you have to admit the author had the balls to make his OC curse out the original creator, even if it was in a fit of rage in the story. But still, a villain who went murder crazy, sees his revenge as a serious business and has a clear target fixiation, needs a proper tune. And this one seems appropriate to the role.

Number 3: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSJkrI…
Surprised!?! Honestly, I didn't know this one when I was writing down the original story, so the fact it's somehow a perfect match, is either a coincidence or a very lucky shot. Either way, it's one of the coolest tracks ever, one that can be interpreted in many ways- Just like Count Wallenrod says it's describes Tyrant's story - his Rise to Power, his Reign, his Madness, and his imminent Downfall. Pretty cool if you keep in mind the guy kinda slowly became a Tyrant himself and is Well-Aware of his fate as the Tyrant.

Number 2: www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7c-n4…
Oh My God, I didn't expect this one to appear here, yet alone get so high! But yes, for a moment where I am right now, this is the one I am listening to the most, and what can I say about it... You hear this one, and you know YOU ARE SCREWED. Just like they would be screwed up when Count Wallenrod declares 'You have no idea what a true Monster is! I have seen it, I have witnessed it, I have slained it... in Auschwitz-Birkenau! And I shall give you a SAMPLE!'. And then.... NIGHTMARE FUEL IMPLIED!!!!

Well, are you ready for Number 1? If yes, then let's not drag this any more. The Number 1 music for 'Count Wallenrod' Comic Book Adaptation is...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGlhoU…
One thing I didn't mention in the Comic Book is a line that serves as an introduction to 'Tainted Love' - 'When Two Worlds Collide, There is Only... Armageddon'. And yes, the story is kinda like in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' and 'Cool World', but the main plot pattern is swapped - This time, it's people from the Real World who are a threat to toons, not the other way around. And this song pretty much exemplifies this motive. Not to mention, the chorus might as well be the Outcasts speaking about themselves, when they are destroying the original Universe, just so that they can create their own. And it is one hell of a difference, when compared to sugar-coated junk the original show calls 'music'. It literally states out loud 'The Jokes are Over, Kids! It's time to get Serious, or You Will Die!'. And that is why it deserves the number 1 spot here.

So there you have it - my personal music picks that I listen to, whenever working on my Comic Book Adaptation. Did you like the concert? You have opinions of Your own? Do not hesitate to share your words (or even this list, if you can). Sharing your opinion is also an art.
